About me
I am a graduate of Cal State University-Monterey Bay with a major in Spanish and concentration in Language and Linguistics. My professional aspiration is to attain a career in the field of Translation and Interpretation.
Originally a Marine Biology major, I made the switch over to study Spanish language and linguistics based off of a number of factors. For one, being a California resident, it's almost impossible to go a day, depending on your location, without hearing Spanish being spoken. Second, the job market for someone who is bilingual is much larger. At CSUMB and in the Monterey County especially, there is a large Hispanic community, from that which my cultural and language knowledge could be easily practiced and tested daily.
As a senior, I decided to further my education and cultural knowledge, and participated in the CSU International Program, studying abroad in Santiago, Chile. My decision to study abroad came from the simple fact that outside cultural and linguistics knowledge, without the influence of English and the U.S., was ultimately what I needed to improve my fluency in the language. While studying at Pontificia Universidad Católica Chile I took a translation course, which from day one, sparked my attention in translation eventually leading me to pursue this career field.
